The merger of a German Bank (G Bank) and an American Bank (A Bank): an assessment of cultural fit

The case study describes and explains the successful integration strategy designed and implemented by a German Bank's top executives when an American Bank was acquired in 1999. In particular, the case illustrates how the strategy facilitated the complex integration process, minimising cultural clashes both at national and corporate levels. The case includes both public data and, most relevant, data gathered through an interview with the human resources director of the German bank.
